We have heard from Pastor Andre that everyone is doing OK at our partner church in Haiti after Tropical Storm Isaac. Thank you for praying!
The Titus Task supports a Church in Haiti as it cares for 25 of its own orphans and vulnerable children since the Earthquake of 2010. We provide monthly support so those children are cared for in a family setting with food, education, and medical care when necessary. The Church has become a family to us and we look forward to watching these children grow in to the future leaders of Haiti! One year ago we finished raising $30,000 to purchase land for the church to own. They have aggressively sought land for that price since then and several times they have been close to purchase, but still haven't been able to secure a piece of land in the Delmas area of Port au Prince. Land prices are high and many times the ownership is unclear. We trust God has a great plan - will you pray with us? The church is told monthly that they need to vacate the building that they are in. The church also operates as a Classical school during the week and has more than doubled in size in the last 2 years.
We pray we will be able to lead some teams to Haiti for the building process once land is found. A team of High School students and leaders from New Heights Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas visited our church family over Spring Break. They had a great week of showing God's love to the children of the church with VBS types of activities - we are so thankful for their encouragement! The goal of raising $30,000 for our partner church in Haiti was met in June 2011! We praise God for prompting so many people to get involved and contribute to the needs of orphans in Haiti.
Unfortunately, the land the church had planned to purchase is no longer available, so we are waiting on God to reveal a new plan to Pastor Andre. Our partnership through World Orphans is a great asset to Pastor Andre as their in country director works alongside him to find the best land available to meet their needs. We look forward to the day soon when we will be able to update you about the progress. Please pray with us for our Haitian Church Family as they seek God's direction. Thank you doesn't seem to convey the feeling in my heart for so many friends and family and people we do not even know giving so generously to our Haitian Church family. Noel and I are making a quick trip to Haiti to give them the GOOD NEWS. I know they will be giving the GLORY to God for His provision and thanking Him for YOU this weekend as they celebrate the 7 year anniversary of the church and worship our GREAT GOD! I will bring back a message from Pastor Andre and lots of photos! I have a feeling he will say something like this -- "I knew God could do it." That has been the attitude of his heart since we started seeking this financial provision - "My BIG God can do this."
My prayer is to have faith like that - in the midst of very difficult living situations, floods, cholera, still digging out from the earthquake - he BELIEVES! Believing God! Lori So much to share with you all! FIRST - you may have heard that there have been 7 days of hard rains in Port au Prince - at least 25 people have died and there is massive flooding. Pastor Andre emailed today and said many members of his congregation are staying at the church with their homes collapsed and washed away. He has asked us to continue to pray for them.
Praising God that we continue to bring in funds for the land project and we have a benefactor that has given enough for the church building if we are able to raise the money for the land! Praising God for the provision of 2 teams of builders and other mission minded people that will serve our partner church family in July. Please pray with us - 1. That the goal of $30,000 for the land would be met by Father's Day. 2. That Pastor Andre would be able to move forward quickly to purchase the land. 3. The teams would be able to use their specific skills in July to start construction of the church building. WOW - it is incredible watching God work all of this out for our Haitian family! He is moving fast - we are holding on and love watching His Plans unfold. May God be everything you need today, lori Earlier this month when we celebrated Mother's Day and the Titus Task Haiti Project reached the goal of 50% - I began thinking wouldn't it be awesome if we reached 100% by Father's Day? I think God likes to show Himself like that - bring glory to Himself in doing things that we think are so BIG. It is not BIG for Him. He cares - much much more than we do about the orphans in Haiti. He is providing for them through YOU! Will you join us in praying that the funds needed for our Haitian Family will be reached by Father's Day - June 19?
Father to the fatherless, defender of widows-- this is God, whose dwelling is holy. God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy. Ps 68:5-6 Expecting the Greatness of God, lori God has really shown up through GENEROUS people giving to the Haiti Project. I was so excited to tell Pastor Andre that we were at 56% of our goal last week. Now - the total is 59%! WOW!
Scott Vair - of World Orphans met with Pastor Andre in late April when he was in Haiti to go over the details of the land and make sure everything is in place so the chuch will legally own the land they purchase. He reported that everything looks good and so we continue with our goal of reaching $30,000. Thank you for caring! With God - ALL things are possible! lori We have been hovering around 4% of our goal for about a week now...4%. The July date that Pastor Andre has been given for his lease to end on the land where they teach 80 kids school and about 200 people worship together is fast approaching. I run through the scenarios of - maybe God does not want us to raise this money for our Haitian friends. I give it to God knowing this is huge in my mind and a small thing for Him. As God often does in my life - today he surprised me...I am crazy about Him and He is about us - and about every one of those children in Haiti that we care so much about...He cares more. He loves more. And if we know how to give good gifts to those we love, how much more does He delight in giving to those He loves.
He renewed my hope today. I opened an envelope today from a stranger - someone who learned of the Titus Task last week from a friend's Mom - on a beach in Florida. The check inside had a small sticky note attached and simply read - glad to know about the Titus Task. The donation enclosed catapulted us toward our goal - we are now at 31%. We believe in God's powerful expression of LOVE! We believe in those children in Haiti! We believe in YOU! Will you believe in Haiti with us? Our goal is attainable. How long will it take us to get to $30,000? Give $10, $100, $1000 - more? ANYTHING - I would even add - BE GENEROUS - Our God is generous! You can't outgive Him! Please believe with us! It will take us ALL - but WE can do it TOGETHER! I love you friends, lori We have had the word out for a couple weeks about the church in Haiti - their need for land and the goal of raising $30,000. Ever since Pastor Andre first told us of the large amount of money needed - I have to admit I have been a little concerned about whether or not we would be able to raise that much money. It has come to my attention over and over -- we CAN'T, but GOD CAN. We took a netbook [donated by a friend] to Pastor Andre in March so he has been able to communicate with us much more frequently. Shortly after our return from Haiti, in March, Pastor Andre told us about the lease on the current church land ending in July - we previously thought that the lease would end in December. We felt the urgency and leading of God to try to gather a big group of people that could help Pastor Andre. By this time -- those of you reading have probably seen my multiple emails and Facebook requests to give. We are so thankful for those of you who have given! We are almost at 5% of our goal. What I want to share with you today is how much Pastor Andre and his congregation are praying for YOU. See this isn't just a hand out -- to them [and very much to us] this is a partnership. A life on life relationship. They take it very seriously and Pastor Andre emails us often to tell us how much he is praying for us. I wanted you to see his words --
March 11 I'm very glad that you think about us in Haiti and you come to visit us. I thank God who puts us together. I believe that our relationship will come with positive things for all of us.Thank you for looking for the support to help us with the buying of the land for the church. I pray for that and I believe that our GREAT GOD will permit you to find the support to help us to purchase the land. March 24 I'm glad to send you these pictures to see the ministry as you know, the church, the children and the school. I love them . Please pray for me with the ministry. I love it, this is my job that God gave to me. thank you . March 29 It is an obligation for me to pray for you and Noel and all the supporters. April 6 May God bless you. I thank God about your progress. And I pray God every day for you in order to put in your way the generous people to help you in the project. About the july date don't be afraid. I know our Great God that saves us can send the money to buy the land. Only, we must pray to GOD. On April 6 -- I decided to heed Pastor Andre's advice. If in his day to day circumstances he is trusting God to provide surely I could trust our Great God to provide for them too. So -- we press on in TRUST. Believing God can do far more than we ask or even imagine. AND for my small part in the BIG GOD story -- I am asking you again...Please consider how you might be a part of the story! Click here and then click on the CONTRIBUTE button in the middle of the page. MERCI! lori - for all of us -- the Titus Task Haiti Project |
